of Dutchess County, New York
Have you
installed CO
detectors?
The State of New York enacted the law which permits fire departments to organize their own Fire-Police Squads - General Municipal Law - Section 209-c

The Volunteer Fire Police Association of Dutchess County consists of about 150 members who are either active or retired Fire Police Officers from Fire Departments around the county.
We meet each month at a different fire-house to discuss issues in the fire-fighting community, whether they be local, state-wide or national. Topics could range from legislative (for example, the unique use of flashing blue vehicle lights by fire-fighters and fire-police) to security (for example the response to terrorist threat) to community (for example planning a social event).
Our monthly meetings always include friendly and informal refreshments at the fire-house, where we have an opportunity to catch up with friends on the latest news.
There are always opportunities to attend State Association meetings and functions, along with our peer groups from other counties, especially the annual New York State meeting - which always provides new insights and ideas for the Fire Police community.
When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage,
Give me strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and
Protect his property.
And if according to may fate
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife
